Application deadline: Open until filled Starting Salary: $81,818 per year Summary: The Director of Strategy and Partnerships fosters, builds, and promotes a culture of strategic assessment that will facilitate continuous improvement within student affairs at the University of Illinois Springfield.
The Director supports the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and the Division of Student Affairs through developing and directing strategic projects and partnerships.
Project management responsibilities include division or university-wide projects that are high priority, collaborative, and require consensus building.
Responsible for ensuring the Division of Student Affairs programs and services are aligned with and supportive of the academic mission.
Directs efforts that connect the DSA with academic programs, colleges, Academic Affairs Division, and other academic units.
Oversees Orientation & New Student Programs, Division of Student Affairs Curriculum & Assessment, and strategic planning initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities: Oversees the development of student affairs program assessment plans in consultation with student affairs department and program leaders.
Oversees the Division of Student Affairs strategic planning process, including strategic plan implementation.
Oversee the implementation, execution, and coordination of the Division of Student Affairs Star Map curriculum.
Provide Supervision and Oversight and strategic direction to the Orientation and New Student Programs staff.
Oversees Division of Student Affairs grant process – including solicitation and execution of grant applications.
Serve as strategic advisor to VCSA, assisting with special initiatives, and projects.
Trains division leaders on change management process intended to enhance division and university wide programs.
Leads quality improvement efforts for the DSA including program review process.
Manages internal and external communication of assessment activities and finding for the division of student affairs.
Implements and oversees the DSA/VCSA advisory committee, made up of UIS alumni, students, and families.
Represents the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at internal and external meetings and forums as needed, and assists in relationship building in the community.
Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree from an accredited institution in higher education, student affairs, or any research-based field.
Three (3) or more years of experience in developing and managing strategic priorities and projects.
Three (3) or more years in leading collaborative projects across diverse stakeholder groups.
Experience with the development of assessment methods for institutional/divisional priorities.
Experience with using technology to facilitate the assessment process.
Preferred Qualifications: Post Graduate Degree in higher education, student affairs, or any research-based field.
Post-Graduate Certificate in Academic Assessment.
Prior success in promoting a culture of assessment across a University.
Strong understanding of data management in higher education and experience in positions of progressively complex responsibility as related to institutional research, assessment, and analytics.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of current best practices in academic assessment, academic program review, and co-curricular assessment.
Ability to take initiative, make decisions, and work independently Facility in manipulating, analyzing, interpreting, applying, and synthesizing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality quantitative and qualitative data from varying sources to prepare and present information effectively.
Proficiency with spreadsheet, database, presentation, and visualization software.
Ability to effectively engage and support faculty in the academic assessment process.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse members of the university and higher education communities including faculty, staff, administrators, external reviewers and accreditors.
Strong integrity, flexibility and ability to adapt to changing requirements.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to multi-task yet maintain close attention to detail and timeliness of work production.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to deal with a variety of information presented in oral or written formats.
Ability to deal with non-verbal behavior in assisting with problem/conflict resolution.
Excellent organizational skills.
