The Illinois Primary Health Care Association (“IPHCA”) is seeking to fill a Communications Specialist and Graphic Designer position in its Springfield, IL office.
The Communications Specialist, under the guidance of the Director of Communications, is responsible for development, execution and distribution of Association communication and marketing strategies, including print and electronic publications, web-related projects, and communication marketing campaigns.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* * 1.
Works in conjunction with Communications, Governmental Affairs, Clinical, and Membership/Training staff to develop and implement IPHCA’s communication and marketing strategies.
Ensures that internal and external marketing materials and communications are completed in a timely manner, adhering to the highest professional standards, budget requirements, and IPHCA’s established style guidelines.
* 2.
Develops and implements consistent design concepts for all Association materialsand various projects.
Including but not limited to all IPHCA conference materials, training materials, logos, marketing materials, advertisements and documents.
* 3.
Coordinates and edits all digital communications (i.
e.
eBlasts) that IPHCA sends out, including but not limited to bi-weekly I-MAIL newsletter, monthly clinical eBlasts, training eBlasts, and government affairs eBlasts.
* 4.
Oversees production of IPHCA’s quarterly newsletter, _Health Source_.
This includes searching for beneficial news pieces for publication, researching and writing articles, editing and proofreading.
Completes layout, formatting, and web posting ensuring that all deadlines are met.
* 5.
Participates in the development, design, copywriting, production, and distribution of the annual membership directory.
* 6.
Proofreads IPHCA website; IPHCA’s member website, YM; marketing materials; _HealthSource,_ and other documents.
* 7.
Develops, writes copy, produces and updates various materials, including press releases, articles, information packets, marketing pieces, fact sheets, conference materials, press packets for media and advocacy, and other documents as assigned.
* 8.
Manages the placement and updating of job openings and event calendars on website.
* 9.
Responds to phone calls and e-mail inquiries in a judicious manner.
* 10.
Responsible for the development, design, and maintenance of IPHCA.
org, and other electronic applications.
All web sites must be designed to follow Illinois Web Accessibility Standards.
Serves as point of contact for requests for updates or new development, implements requests in a timely manner, and notifies requesting staff of completion.
* 11.
Ensures that all design elements, templates and finished solutions work within a variety of browser types and screen settings along with the constraints set by development and design.
* 12.
Participates in efforts to improve quality of websites and other electronic publications as required.
* 13.
Responsible for the maintenance of the IPHCA’s member website, YM, and serves as point of contact for requests for updates.
Implements requests in a timely manner and notifies requesting staff of completion.
* 14.
Works with designated staff or contractors to complete all work on time and in budget.
* 15.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
* 16.
Additional and/or alternative duties may be assigned from time to time in the sole discretion of IPHCA.
*Education Required:* Associate’s degree with five years’ experience or Bachelor’s degree with three years’ experience in communications, graphic design, public relations or related field.
*Competencies Required:* Excellent writing and communication, graphic and web design, project management, deadline management and interpersonal and organizational skills.
Individual must be a self-starter requiring minimum supervision.
Must possess problem-solving skills, pay close attention to detail, and be able to independently manage projects from start to finish.
*Experience Required: *Three – five years’ experience in communications field with demonstrated knowledge and skill.
Proficiency in website and graphic design (WordPress preferred), Adobe programs (i.
e.
, Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop), and online graphic design site, Canva.
Understanding and competency in Microsoft Teams a plus.
