Position Overview The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, energetic individual to serve as Statewide Safety Learning Manager.
Under direction of the Chief Learning Officer, this position will travel to various locations statewide to lead the development, design, planning, and implementation of OLPD employee and workplace safety training curricula, initiatives, and programs.
The position will coordinate all employee and workplace safety learning training events statewide and oversee safety-related training programs.

Job Responsibilities * Serves as Statewide Safety Learning Manager.
* Serves as full line supervisor of subordinate staff.
* Collaborates with other managers within the Office of Learning and Professional Development, Agency safety and security subject matter experts, workgroups, management, administrators, Illinois State Police, local law enforcement agency representatives, and other internal and external stakeholders to coordinate the development, design, planning, and implementation of Agency employee and workplace trainings and standards.
* Maintains and analyzes employee and workplace safety needs.
* Works cooperatively with administrators and supervisory staff to ensure needs are met in the most efficient and economical manner.
* Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications * Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college preferably with coursework in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field.
* Requires three years of responsible administrative experience in the area of law enforcement or security management.
Preferred Qualifications * 2 years of professional experience managing or training self-defense techniques in a public or business organization.
* 2 years of professional experience developing and/or implementing self-defense or safety trainings or monitoring the implementation of safety and security protocols in a public or business organization.
* 2 years of experience conducting safety/security reviews in a public or business organization.
* 2 years of experience supervising staff in a public or business organization.
* Completion of a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, legal studies, law enforcement, criminal justice, homeland security, or social work.
Conditions of Employment * Requires ability to pass a background check.
* Requires ability to travel, possession of a valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and access to an operating vehicle.
* Requires the ability to conduct classroom-based instruction, physical defensive tactics, and OC (pepper) Spray exposure training.
* Requires ability to bend, stoop, and lie prone on the ground.
* Requires ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

* Requires ability to be subjected to OC (pepper) spray to demonstrate proper deployment of the protective device and able to employ proper decontamination procedures.
