1978 HydroStream Vandal - Wanna have fun? Take a look at this little speedster.
14’6” HydroStream Vandal.
This boat came from Minnesota and had Pipkorn lineage.
The boat is set up for center steering and can be changed to right hand steer with little work.
Single front seat, no rear seat.
Has Hot Foot throttle that can be manually adjusted to limit speed, perfect for training first time boaters.
The boat has been rigged correctly.
All lights, bilge pump, interior lighting, stereo, gauges all work.
All wiring connections are sealed.
The previous owner put in knees and reinforced transom.
Was a good job.
The transom and hull are very solid.
Has a new 12-gallon poly tank, new marine battery, and new hydraulic steering.
I’ve had this boat over 65 MPH and after that it starts to get a little hairy.
At 60 years old, that’s fast enough for me! The previous owner had a V6 on it and ran over 100 MPH drag racing.
BOAT SPECIFICATIONS: Boat Type: Vee-Pad Runabout, Length: 14' 6", Beam: 73", Transom Height: 21-1/2", Approximate Weight: 450 lbs.
VIN#: HSP839VDM78F The Vandal was built in late 1977 and debuted as a '78 model.
It was designed as a replacement for the Vixen model.
Rated for 90 HP in '78 it was then downrated to 80 HP in '79.
The last Vandal was built in approximately 1988.
The mold never changed from the beginning.
The Vandal is a great starter boat for the high-performance boating novice, but it can also turn into an awesome drag racing monster for the serious pro.
ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS: 1996 Johnson 115 HP, FastStrike, Model #: J115GLEDR, Serial #: 04195521, 2 Stroke, Royal Purple Read up on these outboards.
They were a favorite for Bass boaters.
Have a very good reputation for being nearly bullet proof, horsepower around 123, very torquey outboard.
The water pickup is lower on the gearcase than standard V4 motors, allowing a higher lift without overheating.
I have it paired with an OMC RAKER prop, 23P.
Excellent out of the hole and good top end.
I bought this engine from a dealer in Minneapolis, MN.
Was on a bass boat with very low hours running time.
Has perfect compression.
Really is an excellent match for this boat.
All freshwater use.
Super clean.
Look at the pictures.
TRAILER SPECIFICATIONS: The trailer came with the boat when purchased.
All steel, boat fits perfectly.
All lights work, 2” ball.
I pressure cleaned the trailer and then applied 4 cans of Corrosion Pro on the entire trailer.
Every nook and cranny were covered.
Tires good, pulls fine.
I brought it back from Minnesota with a 2000 Toyota 4-cylinder Tacoma, pulled like a dream.
Boat and trailer have registrations and titles in my name.
So, you get a turnkey ready to go boat, constructed by a legendary boat builder, mated to a high performance but all stock, 2 stroke outboard that runs awesome.
You will always be able to sell this boat because it’s a HydroStream and they no longer make them.
Trades considered, open to all offers.
NO TEXTS, NO EMAILS.
Phone calls only will be accepted.
