Job Standards
The Office of Public Utilities, Electric Transmission and Distribution Division is seeking an individual to supervise the implementation, maintenance, and training of computerized datasets for use by the T&D Engineering Department and the T&D Operations Department.
Supervise daily activities of the GIS Department and coordinate work assignments appropriately.
Design and maintain electronic datasets to be used for the GIS platform.
Oversee maintenance, modification, and operation of the hardware and software composing the GIS platform.
Work with other information technology (IT) platform stakeholders to scope and manage IT projects impacting the GIS platform.
Perform field surveys with GPS equipment to establish lines, grades, horizontal and vertical alignments from which the data within the GIS can be maintained.
Design and deliver the GIS platform and process training for various end-user groups within Transmission and Distribution.
Provide general technical support and subject matter expertise at the department and enterprise.
Requires knowledge of electronic drafting, knowledge of computerized datasets, knowledge of GIS technology, ability to read site plans, use measuring scales and tapes, ability to determine coordinates using GPS equipment, and general techniques for field survey of assets.
Requires knowledge of electric symbols and mapping and ability to determine different sizes and types of wire, poles, cross arms, and various material.
This position requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college with an associate’s degree in engineering, geographic information systems, or computer science and seven years of progressive experience in engineering or geographic information systems.
