Posting Identification Number 10-45-31127 Position Overview The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a Residential Services Supervisor at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired located in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Under general direction, supervises a component of the Residential Care Program.
Coordinates and integrates the Residential Program with the other school programs and activities.
Provides counseling and disciplinary control as necessary.
Establishes goals and objectives for the Unit.
Verifies appropriate shift coverage and enforces standards of maintenance and housekeeping in the residential units for assigned shifts.
Assists in the overall program coordination including coverage and student discipline.
Travels to assist in planning and conducting in-service training sessions.
Compiles and keeps records and case notes.
Serves as mandated reporter under the Child Abuse and Neglect Act.
Job Responsibilities Serves as a working supervisor.
Plans and conducts weekly unit meeting and individual conferences.
Assists with the development of and recommends updates to the Residential Care Worker Handbook, student manuals and policies.
Verifies appropriate shift coverage and enforces standards of maintenance and housekeeping in the residential units for assigned shifts.
Compiles and keeps records and case notes.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to an Associate of Arts Degree, with coursework in the health and human services fields, plus two (2) years direct care experience in a mental health/rehabilitation residential care setting or requires two (2) years resident care supervisory experience in a mental health/rehabilitation residential care setting.
Requires extensive knowledge of the behavior of children and adolescents who are visually impaired, blind.
*Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the state requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of specific proficiency tests and training programs.
Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years of direct care experience working with individuals in a rehabilitation residential care setting.
Two (2) years of professional experience thinking independently with strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, leadership, and attention to detail skills.
Two (2) years of professional experience assessing operational needs and delegating to staff appropriately in a public or private organization.
Two (2) years of professional experience communicating effectively orally and in writing.
Two (2) years of professional experience performing quality assurance activities.
Two (2) years of experience in guidance and training of staff.
Conditions of Employment Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
