Provide support and guidance as an experienced DSP, modeling and ensuring all CTF protocols and procedures regarding personal support and care are adhered to.
Support people with developmental disabilities by providing support and supervision based upon a persons Personal Plan as well as state and federal regulation.
Ensure proper support is provided in Medication Administration, dietary and medical needs, self-care, outcome advancement, and behavioral support.
Adhere to and sustain the mission of the organization by providing the highest quality of services in order to enhance each persons skill development, health, freedom, and personal dignity.
Shift: Monday - Friday from 4 pm to 12 am, no weekends required with a wage of $17.
00 (after Lead training is complete).
Lead DSP Job Functions: Properly implement and model CTF procedures regarding personal support, behavior support, dietary guidelines, medication administration, safety protocols, and documentation Assist the supervisor with On the Job Training with newly hired DSPs Provide support and guidance regarding the DSP role to other DSPs Remain authorized to administer medications, supervise people supported in taking medications as prescribed by the physician, administer and document medications correctly, and be the primary medication passer at 4 and 8 PM Monday thru Friday Ensure the medication closet remains clean, stocked and necessary medications, including PRNs, are present and ordered as necessary Supervise people during meals by serving family style, eating with them to act as role model, assisting with and prompting proper utensil use, eat appropriate bite size, use napkin, etc.
Implement prescribed diets by preparing meals according to written menus and recipes and ensure food is prepped to the proper consistency Complete environment safety measures, including taking water temperatures, refrigerator/freezer temperatures, and completing safety drills as assigned Monitor peoples wellbeing and follow guidelines within the Healthcare Policy and Protocol Implement outcomes as indicated within peoples Implementation Strategies Complete daily documentation, including documentation within outcomes, universal notes, critical incidents, and individual supports as required Promote appropriate adaptive behaviors and social interactions by following Safety Care training and implementing written behavior support programs.
Ensure transportation logs are completed daily Communicate all site, maintenance and person supported needs to managers timely Must maintain employment in good standing.
Must be up to date in all training requirements, maintain satisfactory attendance record with minimal occurrences, maintain medication administration authorization, and maintain satisfactory performance standards.
DSP Duties and Responsibilities: Adhere to terms and conditions of employment as outlined in Employee Handbook and job description.
Support self-advocacy and self-determination of residents by giving them the opportunity to make choices and encouraging empowerment whenever possible within the guidelines of the Personal Plan, Implementation Strategy and Behavior Support Plan (if applicable).
Bathe, groom and dress individuals by providing assistance and support as indicated in the Personal Plan Monitor personal appearance, ensuring that each person is dressed and groomed appropriately.
Advocate for each persons right to privacy by closing doors, shutting curtains/drapes, when appropriate.
Ensure each persons right to confidentiality by disclosing information only to authorized personnel, per organization guidelines and HIPAA regulations.
Facilitate personalized outcomes by implementing and documenting outcomes as written by the QIDP Implement prescribed diets by preparing meals according to written menus and recipes and ensure food is prepped to the proper consistency Provide training, supports, and assistance to individuals in the areas of self-care, communication, self-direction, independent living, mobility and learning as directed by the Personal Plan, Implementation Strategy and Behavior Supports.
Assist in and promote in-house recreational and social activities by conducting therapeutic activities, such as physical exercises, occupational arts and crafts, recreational games, and connections via technology Facilitate assessment and development of individual by observing, reporting and documenting individual health care issues to medical personnel according to organization policy.
Supervise people on out-of-house activities and ensure personal safety in the vehicle and community, providing support for the activity as needed or described in the Implementation Strategy Assist the person as needed in money management Implement active treatment for each individual.
Protect individuals from abuse and neglect, reporting any suspected incidents immediately.
Monitor medical well-being and safety of each individual by completing bed checks, as indicated for each individual, following all toileting schedules (including nocturnal), providing position changes as needed, as well as observing and documenting individual health care issues as prescribed by medical personnel and organization policy.
Train and supervise individuals in the cleaning of living areas, providing support as needed.
Train and supervise individuals in completing laundry, providing support as needed.
Ensure clean, orderly, attractive home environment by adhering to daily cleaning schedules and, as needed by observation, cleaning bedroom, bathrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and kitchen, laundry and complying with federal and state regulations.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: Inform supervisors of individuals and site concerns and needs.
Participate in the development of each persons Implementation Strategy by attending Interdisciplinary Team Meetings and/or giving input to the QIDP Maintain and increase technical knowledge by attending and participating in staff meetings and in-services.
Ensure needed repairs or replacements are completed of furniture, equipment and linens by examining rooms and informing supervisor of concerns/needs.
Ensure adequate supplies are available by inventorying cleaning stock and reporting shortages or needed items to the Site Supervisor.
Participate in and timely complete all assigned and required continuing education, including annual recertifications, as well as other DSP training program material and classes.
Required Experience, Education and/or Training: Must be 18 years of age, and possess high school diploma or GED.
Possess valid drivers license with acceptable driving record per company requirements.
Successfully complete all necessary background checks.
Certified as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with at least one year experience Authorized in Medication Administration CTF Lead DSP Certified, by passing CTF Lead DSP Curriculum CPR/First Aid Certified Safety Care Certified Additional Experience, Education and/or Training Preferred: CQL POMS training
