Job Responsibilities This position is accountable for assisting the Regional Information Technology Manager, Central Office and Bureau of Information Processing (BIP) section and unit managers with day-to-day operational duties.
S/He is responsible for supporting non-application related information technology (IT) issues; supporting users in a network environment; troubleshooting IT needs for executive staff; networking with district IT staff located throughout the state; assisting with IT equipment refresh initiatives; and utilizing the ServiceNow (SNOW) system for inventory management and submittal of service requests and/or incident tickets.
The incumbent serves as the liaison between department IT staff and Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) staff.
Number of operational projects: 15-25 annually Technology user base supported: 350-400 This position reports to the Regional Information Technology Manager, Central Office.
There are no subordinates reporting to this position.
Under the supervision of the Regional Information Technology Manager (RITM), Central Office, this position is responsible for providing assistance to the BIP section and unit managers with day-to-day operational duties including managing non-application related IT issues; supporting users in a network environment; troubleshooting IT needs for executive staff; networking with regional IT units; assisting with IT equipment refresh initiatives; and utilizing the ServiceNow (SNOW) system for IT inventory management and submittal of service requests and incident tickets.
The incumbent provides high quality customer service to end users.
The greatest challenge of this position is using existing technology to keep up with user demands while focusing on departmental priorities and goals and utilizing available resources to their maximum potential.
This is further complicated due to the high demand for technology support within the department’s central office.
The department’s IT service provider is a separate state agency and constant communication and coordination between the two agencies is paramount to follow dynamic guidelines regarding IT service.
(Job Responsibilities continued) The incumbent is personally responsible for completing assignments from the RITM, Central Office which may include end-user support; smartphone and personal computer (PC) setup and assistance; and laptop and tablet configuration.
This position is responsible for assisting with the department’s IT inventory management, IT equipment check-out and customer relations, video conferencing and virtual meetings setup, multi-function device troubleshooting, PC Refresh initiatives, Active Directory (AD) security permissions, and IT help desk requests.
S/He serves as a liaison between the department and DoIT.
Under the direction of the RITM, Central Office the incumbent has the latitude to solve problems within the guidelines established by the department for procuring, evaluating, and monitoring technology resources.
Other limiting factors are the capabilities of existing equipment and constraints imposed by departmental policies and procedures.
S/He assists with recommending IT strategies for the department’s central office in order to fully utilize existing technology resources.
Internal contacts are with departmental technology users who are primarily directors, bureau chiefs, section managers, and departmental IT staff in the department’s central office or within the districts.
External contacts are with IT support and technical specialists from other state, local, or federal agencies with similar functions; with vendors to resolve problems affecting service level agreements; and with consultants and vendors in researching new technology resources.
This position requires occasional statewide travel with overnight stays.
The effectiveness of this position can be measured by the incumbent’s ability to assist the RITM, Central Office with commitments to the standardization, innovation, timeliness, and effectiveness of the department’s central office technology initiatives and ensure that best practices are observed by all available support staff for the department.
Principal Accountabilities 1.
Assists the RITM, Central Office and BIP section and unit managers with day-to-day operational duties.

Assists with managing IT issues and provides support to technology users in a network environment.
3.
Assists with coordination of IT initiatives with district IT staff throughout the department.
4.
Assists with PC Refresh initiatives, multi-functional printer issues, and IT inventory management.
5.
Works with each of the department bureaus to monitor IT permissions and security.
6.
Provides basic smartphone, PC, laptop, and tablet upgrades and/or configuration services.
7.
Resolves IT Xpress help tickets and submits SNOW tickets when applicable.
8.
Serves as a liaison between the department and DoIT staff.
9.
Performs all duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
10.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Position Requirements • Education/Experience: Completion of a bachelor’s degree majoring in computer science or information technology, OR Completion of two years of college plus two years of experience working with network operating systems, end-user computer support, IT troubleshooting, or a combination thereof, OR Six years of experience working with network operating systems, end-user computer support, IT troubleshooting, or a combination thereof • Valid driver’s license • Occasional statewide travel which may include overnight stays Position Desirables • Experience writing and utilizing Windows Batch Script and PowerShell to automate tasks • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications • Basic knowledge of PMI, ITIL, and Agile methodologies • Proficient with various network operating environments and communication protocols • Working knowledge of concepts and techniques to effectively manage people, tasks, and programs • Ability to plan, organize, and execute administrative and technical program requirements • Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with employees, agency officials, and the public • Good organizational and documentation skills Work Hours: 8:00 A.
