_*Job Title:*_ *Shelter Director* _*Organization:*_ *Helping Hands of Springfield* _*Location:*_ *Springfield, IL, USA* _*About Helping Hands of Springfield:*_ Helping Hands of Springfield is a non-profit organization that provides shelter, housing, support, and resources to individuals experiencing homelessness in the Springfield community.
Our goal is to empower individuals to regain stability, independence, and dignity through comprehensive services and compassionate care.
_*Position Overview:*_We seek a dynamic and compassionate Shelter Director to lead our shelter facility and programs.
The Shelter Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of shelter operations, including staff management, program development, community engagement, and ensuring the safety and well-being of shelter residents.
_*Key Responsibilities:*_ _Program Management:_ * Develop and implement effective shelter programs and services that meet the diverse needs of individuals experiencing homelessness.
* Collaborate with staff to create individualized service plans for shelter residents, focusing on housing stability, employment, healthcare, and other essential needs.
* Monitor program outcomes and effectiveness, and make adjustments as necessary to improve services and outcomes.
_Staff Supervision and Development:_ * Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate shelter staff, ensuring a supportive and inclusive work environment.
* Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to staff to enhance their skills and effectiveness in serving shelter residents.
_Community Engagement and Partnerships:_ * Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with community partners, government agencies, donors, and volunteers to enhance shelter services and resources.
* Represent Helping Hands of Springfield at community meetings, events, and forums to raise awareness about homelessness issues and advocate for supportive policies and resources.
_Operational Oversight:_ * Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the shelter facility, including managing budgets, purchasing supplies, and maintaining compliance with regulations and policies.
* Develop and implement safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of shelter residents and staff.
_Data Management and Reporting:_ * Maintain accurate records of shelter operations, program outcomes, and resident demographics.
* Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including funders, board members, and government agencies _*Qualifications:*_ * Bachelor’s degree in social work, nonprofit management, or a related field * Minimum of 3 years of experience in social services, homeless services, or nonprofit management, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
* Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and serving marginalized populations.
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and stakeholders.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with database management systems.
