The *Health Information Management (HIM) Manager* is responsible for assisting with the daily functions involving the collection, processing, maintenance, disclosure, and transportation of protected patient health information via paper and/or electronic format in a manner that complies with organizational, departmental, and regulatory requirements.
Additionally, the Interim HIM Manager participates as an essential member of the Health Information Management Department by ensuring that an individual’s health data and information is accurate, complete, accessible, confidential, and secure.

*RESPONSIBILITIES*
The HIM Manager is responsible for the following:
* Day-to-day management of the HIM department including transcription, coding, CDP, information management, budgeting, and legal compliance.
* Plans, develops, implements, and manages health information services, such as patient information systems, and clinical and administrative data, to meet the medical, legal, ethical, and administrative requirements of health care delivery.
* Assists in directing, planning, organizing, monitoring, and evaluating the work of assigned teams to ensure effective and efficient operations and compliance with established standards, rules, and regulations.
* Assists in the development, implementation, and assessment of long-range and short-term goals.
* Conducts studies and analyzes reports and makes recommendations concerning staffing, organization, budget, and workflow.
* Ensures that the department maintains a high level of accuracy, chart completion and customer service to internal and external customers.
* Oversees regular meetings and related activities.
* Directs and oversees all policies and procedures related to healthcare information management.
* Reviews processes and identifies areas of improvement.
* Acts as a liaison between information systems and HIM.
* Ensures that all recordkeeping and information disbursement complies with HIPAA regulations.
* Maintains approved levels of security and confidentiality of records/data.
* Manages the collection, storage, and retrieval system to allow timely and easy use of records.
* Hires, orients, trains, and supervises HIM staff.
* Files and retrieves records and data according to hospital standards.
* Ensures all medical record forms are approved and current.
* Implement process to track completion of medical records.
*QUALIFICATIONS*
* Associates Degree required; Bachelor Degree preferred.
* Certified as an RHIT or RHIA highly preferred.
* Knowledge of current HIM software systems.
* Strong knowledge of the health care industry.
* Strong knowledge of coding systems.
* 3-5 years of progressively responsible management experience in a health care setting.
* Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of health information management.
* Considerable knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local regulations governing records, privacy, and reporting requirements.
* Ability to develop and install new or revised systems and procedures to improve health information management, compliance, or revenue cycle management.
* Ability to plan and supervise the activities of subordinate employees.
Job Types: Contract, Full-time
Pay: $60,000.
