Job Description
The Revenue Cycle Business Application Support Analyst is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and providing functional support for all business applications utilized by Springfield Clinic.
This position implements, modifies, tests and administers modules and systems related to revenue cycle system applications.
Serves as a liaison between vendors, other application analysts, management and end users to resolve questions related to system functionality and design.
Assesses end user needs and recommends modifications.
Performs all analytical tasks as assigned in the support of each application and secures the documentation, testing, and final analysis to ensure job and system efficiency.
Functions as resource for users in the development of time saving processes or new features.
Job Relationships Reports to the IT Business Systems Manager Principal Responsibilities Responsible for the development, testing, and maintenance of the Athena modules and applications related to Revenue Cycle, the Claims Manager System, and other systems, interfaces, and processes related to billing.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge or resource regarding the functionality of all modules in the billing systems.
Possesses a thorough understanding of project planning.
Develops plans for small projects.
Performs comparative analysis of system design to requirements identified by users within the revenue cycle area.
Acts as a team member to maintain various system parameter tables including reference tables (ICD codes, payor plans, provider, procedures etc.
) issue enhancement logs, etc.
Coordinates and engages in unit and integrated application testing.
Identifies system requirements in base revenue cycle areas.
Serves as first point of contact for systems end-users for issues related to information system performance across revenue cycle areas.
Accepts shared responsibility for on-going support of revenue software applications.
Research, documents, and facilitates resolution to issues reported by end-users.
Develops and monitors measurements of process improvements identified in system solutions.
Creates ad hoc reports and application report templates for multiple purposes.
Reviews, researches, tests and facilitates system updates and responsible for user maintenance for multiple systems.
Assists with the development and testing of 3rd party systems housed outside of the revenue cycle with regards to billing charge files and master files.
Researches and utilizes 3rd party software to create programming logic to aid operational processes.
Maintains general knowledge of CPT, ICD codes and HCPCS and HIPAA Transaction Code Sets.
Provides support for 24 x 7 environments.
Participates in on-call responsibilities including early morning and evening hours to support customer needs.
Perform system analysis, procedure analysis and problem resolution.
Outline and document operational procedures and standards for client support.
Troubleshoot connectivity issues with applications, devices and/or network(s).
Perform functional troubleshooting and data analysis to determine root causes of software problems.
  Define and implement problem resolution.
Identify and correct or advise on operational and technical issues.
Develop and maintain problem tracking system.
  Document solutions, procedures and standards for clients, as well as internal use.
Maintain working knowledge in the company's software solutions, solution methodologies and core technologies.
Configure/install/support hardware and software used with business operations.
Proactively identify and make recommendations on opportunities for automation of tasks and workflow improvement.
Respond promptly to client needs and solicit feedback to improve service, meet commitments and provide follow-up within a timely manner.
Continually build professional and computer knowledge and skills, attending education programs on and off-site as required.
Stay up to date on new technology and functionality available in the market to improve efficiency or business processes.
Contribute to our Clients corporate knowledge by best practices, business process flows and knowledge base.
Develop and maintain proficiency in the company's software solutions, solution methodologies, core technologies and clinical services.
Provide support and collaboration for organizational projects as needed.
Support implementation of recommendations for service and patient care improvement.
Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.

Education/Experience Associate degree in Information systems, finance, or business related field or equivalent work experience.
Two (2) years health care financial / revenue cycle related experience or computer programming experience.
Work experience with revenue cycle management systems, RCx, HealthNote, and Athena applications preferred.
Experience in healthcare scheduling, registration, billing, payors desirable.
Experience in implementations, testing, building, and leading projects preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Detail oriented with ability to handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Maintenance of system dictionaries and the programming of screens, reports form letter and other system features requiring edit on a regular basis.
Ability to handle difficult or sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact while maintaining confidentiality.
Proven knowledge in working with a wide variety of business applications and supporting technologies.
Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in a problem-solving environment.
Working knowledge of information systems, concepts, and terminology.
Ability to research and report trends and patterns of problems.
