*Position Overview* The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Assistant Chief of the Office of Child and Family Policy/Senior Policy Analyst.
Under administrative direction, this position will serve as second-in-command regarding all operations of the Office of Child and Family Policy and as full line supervisor of subordinate staff.
The position will advise the Chief on unit activities and issues impacting unit operations and will provides high level leadership in the review and revision of administrative rules, policy documents, and Departmental procedures.
The position will also review and finalize rulemaking and other procedure and policy documents for all stages of the rulemaking process, including pre-policy review, first notice, second notice, and adoption.

As Assistant Chief, serves as second-in-command regarding all operations of the Office of Child and Family Policy.
3.
Provides high level leadership in the review and revision of administrative rules, policy documents, and Departmental procedures.
4.
Provides input into work groups composed of management and/or subject matter experts representing various divisions/disciplines within the Department.
5.
Represents the Office of Child and Family Policy at meetings with the staff of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR).
6.
Monitors written Bill Review analyses or written analyses of pending legislation which has the potential to affect the Department.
7.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
*Minimum Qualifications* 1.
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college.
2.
Requires four years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
3.
Requires one year of supervisory experience in an administrative, regulatory, or governmental setting.
*Preferred Qualifications* 1.
Prefers four years of professional experience managing or conducting the drafting and development of policies, rules, and procedures in a public or business organization.
2.
Prefers completion of a master's degree.
3.
Prefers four or more years of experience supervising professional staff in a public or business organization or four years of project/program management experience.
4.
Prefers three years of professional experience reviewing proposed legislation to determine its potential impact on the policies of a public or business organization.
5.
Prefers four years of professional experience conducting planning activities on a statewide basis in a management capacity.
6.
Prefers three years of professional experience conducting community outreach as a representative of a public or business organization.
