Posting Identification Number 36857 Position Overview Under direction in the Consultative Examination Unit, accesses Consultative Exam (CE) Scheduler and Fiscal electronic dashboards via Social Security Administration (SSA)’s Documented Case Processing System (DCPS) software to perform technical functions in the processing of cases being referred by Disability Claims Adjudicators for the performance of consultative medical examinations.
Schedules medical exams for customers by calling select Consultative Exam Providers, access Providers Block Book scheduling calendars, or fax work orders to select Consultative Exam Providers setting-up medical exam dates and times.
Keeps Adjudicative staff updated and informed of conflicts with exams ordered by sending an electronic referral informing of corrective action required.
Keeps Adjudicative staff updated through an electronic referral about potential delays in processing their consultative examination requests.
Prepares a variety of correspondence and payable fiscal voucher documents, often time amending outgoing correspondence for informational purposes or taking corrective fiscal action on payable vouchers.
Utilizes a vast amount of job knowledge and experience to ensure compliance with standards and procedures are followed and used to resolve work problems.
Supports Bureau wide case service operations helping to ensure timely handling of customers Social Security disability applications.
Job Responsibilities Utilizing Social Security Administration (SSA)’s Documented Case Processing System (DCPS) software, accesses the Consultative Examination (CE) Scheduler Dashboard to manage ordered exams in the order of receipt or in order of priority, pushing priority cases first.
Utilizes the Fiscal dashboard to review pertinent information and verify incoming consultative examination reports against payment authorization.
Keyboards a variety of correspondence, reports, referral messages, and case notes.
Prepares and reviews manual CE work orders being sent to select Consultative Exam Providers via fax.
Updates electronic case records by extracting and entering information from Consultative Exam Providers appointment summary sheets.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
Requires two (2) years of office experience.
Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm.
Conditions of Employment Requires ability to pass a federal employment background check.
Individuals selected for positions with the Illinois Disability Determination Service (DDS) must go through a complete federal background investigation suitability determination by the Social Security Administration.
Those individuals meeting the state requirements for employment must first complete the federal background investigation prior to their start date.
This is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to the Social Security Disability data, records and systems.
